Using autoencoders and deep transfer learning to determine the stellar parameters of 286 CARMENES M dwarfs

no code implementations14 May 2024 P. Mas-Buitrago, A. González-Marcos, E. Solano, V. M. Passegger, M. Cortés-Contreras, J. Ordieres-Meré, A. Bello-García, J. A. Caballero, A. Schweitzer, H. M. Tabernero, D. Montes, C. Cifuentes

Our results are broadly consistent with those of recent studies using CARMENES data, with a systematic deviation in our Teff scale towards hotter values for estimations above 3750 K. Furthermore, our methodology mitigates the deviations in metallicity found in previous DL techniques due to the synthetic gap.

Observing and modelling the young solar analogue EK Draconis: starspot distribution, elemental abundances, and evolutionary status

no code implementations18 Jan 2021 H. V. Şenavcı, T. Kılıçoğlu, E. Işık, G. A. J. Hussain, D. Montes, E. Bahar, S. K. Solanki

Using spectra from the HERMES Spectrograph (La Palma), we obtain the abundances of 23 elements with respect to the solar ones, which lead to a $[{\rm Fe/H}]=0. 03$, with significant overabundance of Li and Ba.

StePar: an automatic code to infer stellar atmospheric parameters

1 code implementation15 Jul 2019 H. M. Tabernero, E. Marfil, D. Montes, J. I. González Hernández

Context: StePar is an automatic code written in Python 3. X designed to compute the stellar atmospheric parameters Teff, log(g), [Fe/H], and of FGK-type stars by means of the EW method.
